Musk Threatens to Launch "America Party"

(MENAFN) Business magnate Elon Musk on Tuesday intensified his resistance to US President Donald Trump’s contentious "Big Beautiful Bill," declaring his intent to establish a fresh political movement should the sweeping legislative package gain congressional approval.

Musk took to X to voice his frustration, stating, “It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!”

He further emphasized the need for political reform, asserting, “Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people.”

He pledged that if the bill is passed, he would immediately initiate the formation of “the America Party,” describing it as a necessary alternative to the entrenched Republican and Democratic parties—one that allows “the people actually have a VOICE.”

In a separate message, Musk criticized lawmakers who had promised to reduce public expenditures but still endorsed the bill, saying they should “hang their heads in shame.”

He warned they would likely face defeat in their party primaries during the upcoming election cycle.

What was once a relationship of alignment and cooperation between Trump and Musk has now become openly hostile.

Tensions have mounted since Musk began condemning the bill in late May, transforming their alliance into a very public dispute.

Just last month, Musk floated the idea of founding a new political faction, asking his 220 million followers on X whether it was “time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80 percent in the middle."

He subsequently endorsed a fan's recommendation to name the group the “America Party,” a name reminiscent of the America PAC (Political Action Committee) he formed in the previous year.

That committee reportedly spent USD239 million to back Trump and other Republican candidates in the 2024 elections.
