Greece Reveals Plan to Acquire Missile-Equipped Submarines
Out of the four submarines slated for purchase, two will have the ability to deploy strategic cruise missiles, dramatically increasing Greece’s strike reach to more than 1,000 kilometers (621 miles), the report said.
These new submarines will incorporate cutting-edge air-independent propulsion technology, enhanced sonar systems, and state-of-the-art combat capabilities. They will be based on the current Type 214 class, which is also scheduled for upgrades within the next five years, according to the publication.
The initiative is designed to respond directly to the escalating naval developments of the Turkish Navy, which is actively investing in new warships, submarines, aircraft carriers, and unmanned maritime vehicles.
