Trump, Netanyahu to Discuss Middle East Affairs

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday.

Netanyahu departed from Tel Aviv on Sunday, heading to Washington, DC for discussions focused on regional developments, with a particular emphasis on a potential Gaza ceasefire agreement.

This marks Netanyahu’s third journey to the United States within half a year.

During his visit, he is anticipated to engage with top-ranking officials from the US government as well as lawmakers from both the Republican and Democratic parties.

Previously, Trump stated to journalists that there is a "good chance" a ceasefire arrangement and hostage release involving the Palestinian organization Hamas could be finalized this week.

When questioned about what he would say to Netanyahu, Trump remarked: "We're working on a lot of things with Israel, and one of the things is probably a permanent deal with Iran."

However, Netanyahu’s visit is expected to be met with significant demonstrations.

Pro-Palestinian activists plan to express opposition to his presence in the capital and to call for an immediate end to US backing of Israel's military actions in Gaza.

In spite of growing global appeals for a ceasefire, Israel has continued its devastating offensive on Gaza.

According to reports, more than 57,400 Palestinians—predominantly women and children—have lost their lives since October 2023 due to the ongoing conflict.
