Trump, Netanyahu Conclude Meeting on Gaza Ceasefire at White House

(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met for the second time this week on Tuesday, intensifying diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.

Their latest meeting took place in the Oval Office and lasted more than an hour, behind closed doors, following an extended dinner on Monday night—part of Netanyahu’s third visit to the U.S. since Trump began his second term in January.

Netanyahu’s official X account confirmed the meeting afterward, stating the prime minister “concluded his second meeting” with President Trump.

Ahead of their talks, a Qatari delegation arrived at the White House and spent several hours in discussions with senior administration officials, according to media, which cited a source familiar with the negotiations.

The White House has yet to release an official statement regarding the meetings.

Earlier on Tuesday, Netanyahu met with Vice President JD Vance and made a stop at Capitol Hill. Speaking to reporters after meeting House Speaker Mike Johnson, Netanyahu emphasized that Israel’s mission in Gaza remains unfinished.

He stated that Israel must still "finish the job" in Gaza, which includes securing the release of hostages and dismantling both the military and governing structures of Hamas.

Netanyahu also noted that further discussions with Trump could occur later during his visit.

Meanwhile, U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff expressed cautious optimism about an emerging truce.

“We had four issues, and now we're down to one after two days of proximity talks,” Witkoff stated during a meeting alongside Trump, adding that he is "hopeful" a 60-day ceasefire agreement could be reached by the end of the week.
