Bridge collapse in India leaving nine people dead
The incident occurred early Wednesday when a section of the Gambhira bridge, which had been in use for over 40 years, gave way. The collapse caused several vehicles to plunge into the river below, cutting off traffic between the cities of Anand and Vadodara.
Police confirmed that nine bodies had been recovered from the river. The injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The accident also caused significant disruptions to transportation in the region.
