Influential Women Spotlights Rebecca C. Martinez, MD, MHE, FACOG: Top Miami OBGYN & Accomplished Educator

MIAMI, FL, UNITED STATES, April 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Advancing Clinical Excellence, Bioethics, and Mentorship to Empower the Next Generation of Medical Professionals

Rebecca C. Martinez, MD, MHE, FACOG, is a highly respected leader in the medical field with over 30 years of experience, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. Recognized as one of Miami’s top OBGYNs, Dr. Martinez has combined her clinical expertise with a passion for teaching, shaping the next generation of medical professionals. Her extensive clinical career provided a foundation for her transition into medical education, where she focuses on OBGYN and bioethics, helping students and residents navigate the complexities of patient care with ethical rigor and clinical excellence.

Currently, Dr. Martinez serves as Vice Chair for Education in the Department of OB/GYN at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM). In this role, she oversees curriculum development, clerkship programs, and faculty mentorship, ensuring students receive both high-quality instruction and hands-on clinical experience. She also serves as Assistant Clerkship Director for OB/GYN, guiding medical students through clinical rotations while fostering a culture of learning, professionalism, and patient-centered care.

Dr. Martinez earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Religion from the University of Miami and her Medical Degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She also holds a Master’s in Health Ethics from Creighton University and completed a Certificate in Education in Health Professions from Johns Hopkins University, reflecting her commitment to excellence in both medicine and education. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), a Healthcare Ethics Consultant-Certified professional (HCE-C), and an active member of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) and the Miami OBGYN Society.

Among her honors, Dr. Martinez served as President of the Miami OBGYN Society for 2024–2025, chaired Section 6 of District XII ACOG from 2023–2025, and has been Faculty Advisor for the Gold Humanism Honor Society chapter at HWCOM since 2020. She was also recognized as Best Clerkship Director at HWCOM in 2023. Committed to advancing care for underserved populations, she contributes her expertise to ACOG’s Committee for Underserved Women, serves on ACOG’s Ethics Committee, and supports initiatives addressing Black maternal morbidity and mortality.

Dr. Martinez attributes much of her success to resilience and adaptability, balancing the demands of medicine while raising her two daughters as a single mother. She cites the best career advice she received from her father: “Live a life you would be proud to be remembered for, take the path that aligns with your morals and beliefs, and life will help guide you there.” She encourages young women entering medicine to embrace opportunities to grow, pivot, and shape their careers while empowering themselves and others.

She identifies current challenges in healthcare as the protection of women’s health and the increasing dehumanization of care through technology and AI. Dr. Martinez emphasizes the importance of integrating humanism and ethics into all aspects of healthcare. Guided by the values of family, balance, and meaningful connections, she seeks to make a positive impact through her work, mentoring, travel, and time with her daughters.

Known for her expertise in medical education and clinical health ethics, Dr. Rebecca C. Martinez continues to mentor students, support faculty development, and advance ethical, evidence-based practices in OBGYN, leaving a lasting impact on her patients and the broader medical community.
